# How ReadyAdult works

## 1. Adaptive assessment (about 6 minutes)
A parent answers questions about their teenager across 12 life-skill categories. The
questions and the expectations behind them change by exact age, so a 14-year-old is not
measured against an 18-year-old. Each answer uses one of five levels: Not Yet, Beginner,
Developing, Capable, Confident.

## 2. The Ready Score
Answers become a single 0–100 Ready Score plus a score for each of the 12 categories.
Every category is compared with an age benchmark, so parents can see which areas trail
where most teens that age already are.

Categories: finance, career, driving, education, cooking, home care, health,
documents & admin, communication, digital safety, transportation, independence.

## 3. The AI plan
ReadyAdult generates a 6–12 month roadmap focused on the weakest categories first, broken
into weekly missions — small, concrete real-world tasks such as opening a bank account,
cooking three meals unsupervised, or calling to book an appointment.

## 4. Missions, XP and badges
Teens complete missions in their own linked view, earning XP, levels and badges. Parents
see completions, score trends and recent activity on the parent dashboard.

## 5. AI coaching
"Ask ReadyAdult" answers a teen's real-world question by teaching the steps — how to read
a pay stub, what to say to a landlord, how to handle a flat tire — instead of doing it
for them.

## Who it is for
Parents and guardians of teens aged 14–18, primarily in the United States.
